Jupiter in Leo conjunct the South Node: Does Success Lie in your Past?
Jupiter the planet of expansion and growth entered Leo on 30 July — a performance which will last for roughly one year. In Leo, a fixed fire sign, that show begins when the stage is set and everyone knows their role. Sometimes the best role for you, is the one that you know like the back of your hand — a character that is deeply understood and well rehearsed. But with the South Node in Leo, bear in mind that you are not the same person who accepted that role — the costume may no longer fit.
The South Node represents going inward, detachment, awakening, decrease, a backward looking glance (history, family lineage, the old and ancient), as well as spirituality. The South Node in Leo may be asking us all to take off the mask. Jupiter and Leo are both archetypes that relish in truth, righteousness, and high ideals. Twelve years ago, Jupiter was in Leo between July 2014 and August 2015; another time period where there was a striving for a personal ideal, or where some version of of your essential truth was expanding. With the South Node this time around, Jupiter’s expansive quality moves inward, and requires a deeper excavation of what no longer aligns.
I am reminded of the culture of remakes in media, whether it be a movie or a song. The criticism is often whether the new version has stayed true to the the original piece or has left out essential elements. At other times, questions emerge around whether the remake is a cheap copy lacking inventiveness. And there are occasions where the adaptation has been created for a entirely different audience and has taken on a whole new meaning. These are good metaphors for the process that is underway in Leo. The big question in the next year will be whether we are able to locate the true essence of ourselves.
Jupiter conjunct the South Node does not equate to an infinite amount of lack in that area of your chart, it simply means that there is a lot more focus and ongoing change in that area. Seeing decease through the lens of liberation could be helpful. And with Jupiter present we are more able to have faith and optimism in the script — after all life is one big cosmic comedy.
With the opposition to Pluto now behind us, there is a lot to look forward to; especially in bringing stability to our sense of self and going for the opportunities that we set our hearts on. For some people that show may begin after this Solar Eclipse in Leo on 12 August, the curtains may open after you are given a cosmic push.
