A sea-goat, a water carrier and a pair of fish

Learning Astrology

Each zodiac sign is 30 degrees and 30 multiplied by twelve (there are twelve zodiac signs) is 360. A full zodiac circle or chart is 360 degrees. This article will cover Capricorn, symbolized, by the sea-goat, Aquarius, symbolized by a man pouring a jar of water and Pisces, symbolized by two fish. These are the last three zodiac signs which comprise an astrological zodiac circle. Capricorn is the tenth sign and correlates to number ten. Aquarius is the eleventh sign and correlates to number eleven. Pisces is the twelfth and final sign and correlates to number twelve.

Capricorn, the goat, is ruled by the planet Saturn (please see my article on Saturn). The qualities of Capricorn are naturally influenced by Saturnian rulership. Capricorn is an even numbered zodiac sign and as a result may be expressed as a more passive and feminine energy. Capricorn is also often seen as the sea goat (head of a goat with a fish tail). The zodiac sign of Capricorn is teaching us that perseverance and a sober head are needed to navigate through these higher levels of consciousness. The fish tail shows this mythological creature can also navigate emotions, but due its goat head it is not designed to be emersed in the water like a fish or crab. Goats have horns, like the ram and the bull and can forge through obstacles and push forward.

In Indian astrology Capricorn is a crocodile. A crocodiles can live for over a 100 years and crocodiles have been existing on this planet for millions of years. Crocodiles are the epitome of survival and Saturn is about doing what needs doing, or experiencing what needs experiencing to survive. Crocodiles are exceptionally strong, able to endure and adapt across aeons of time, and impressively hold their breath underwater for up to several hours. The crocodile and sea-goat have the ability to be in water when they need to. Perceiving Capricorn as the crocodile or sea-goat is a choice. Regardless, Capricorn is ruled by Saturn and Saturn is a cold and stern teacher. Capricorn is a cardinal sign and this shows that Capricorn is able to initiate, develop quickly and begin a new cycle. A goat or crocodile can change direction quickly, and travel across difficult terrain. Capricorn falls within the earth element. The earth element is generally stable, hard-working and nurturing. In the number 10 we have all the numbers from one to nine combined to form a circle and accumulation of all the energy of the numbers into ten. In ten, the elderly adult is reminiscing about the early years of their life but with wisdom and perspective. A holistic recapping of one’s life is occurring with ten. Ten is a higher vibration of number one.

Aquarius, the water carrier, is ruled by the planet Saturn, as is the zodiac sign before it which is Capricorn. Aquarius is an odd numbered zodiac sign and as a result may be expressed as a more active and masculine energy. Aquarius falls within the air element. The air element can be lofty, full of mental activity and thrives in the realm of ideas and thought processes. Aquarius is a human zodiac sign and although it is officially an air sign, water is part of its symbolism. Water is associated with emotions and in this zodiac sign the higher levels of consciousness enables a person to release emotions. The man is holding an urn and pouring out the water and this is showing that the person is no longer attached to or holding onto emotions and rather letting them flow off. Part of deep trauma healing or healing after an abusive experience, is beginning to remember we are not our emotions or our experiences. Yes, experiences help shape us and yes emotions are part of our experience. Yet to become aware that emotions are like waves in the oceans is deeply empowering, each emotional experience is unique, as each experience is unique. Waves are ebbing and flowing freely. Our emotions should not rule us, and they do not rule us, when we remember and regain our inner center balance.

In Sagittarius the half man, half horse is taking aim with a bow and arrow. In Capricorn, we remember that we still dwell on the Earth and it is a tough environment at times with tricky obstacles. Capricorn reminds us to be resilient, persevere and put in the hard work to survive. The elderly years are often accompanied by pain and aches. This makes living a lot more challenging. Aquarius reminds us that as we survive, we let go to move on and we let doubt, shame, anger, irritation and regret flow away from us. Aquarius shows us that a heavy urn full of emotions need not burden our shoulders. Emotions are linked to physical well-being. The qualities of Aquarius are naturally influenced by Saturnian rulership, and this is not an easy stage of elderly adult life. The number eleven is a higher vibration of two. In eleven it is not our own resources we want to build, but rather resources for the collective as we are the collective. Aquarius is a fixed sign and this shows that Aquarius is more rigid, stubborn and slow to make a change, and as a result is rather predictable in staying with one particular path or focus point. It is difficult for the elderly person to change old habits and routine. Yet number eleven reminds us that there is a bigger picture, and we can get ready to let go of weighing down emotions and have trust to evolve into a higher state of consciousness.

Pisces, the pair of fish, is ruled by the planet Jupiter (please see my article on Jupiter). The qualities of Pisces are naturally influenced by Jupiterian rulership. Pisces is an even numbered zodiac sign and as a result may be expressed as a more passive and feminine energy. The two fish symbolized by Pisces are the greatest representations of the water element because fish can only live in water. After Aquarius and releasing unhealthy burdensome emotions, we move into Pices where we can swim in blissful higher states of consciousness. Pisces is strongly associated with liberation, nirvana, life after death and freedom from this earthly plane. The teachings of Yeshua, Buddha and other profound spiritual teachings are associated with Pisces. In Pisces we are no longer attached to materialism and we are being shown the great freedom and love in higher spiritual states through connection and being part of the Universe, Divine Mother, the Great Cosmos, the universal force or ultimate God like force. Pisces is a mutable sign. Pisces is a gentle sign and no longer needing to find validation through others. The opposite sign, Virgo was linked with doing daily chores, giving more attention to material life while trying to find contentment in the career, home life and day to day activities. In Pisces we are feeling the bliss of Oneness and interconnection with the ultimate God-like force. Pisces shows us that we have nothing to prove and nothing to do to prove our value and worth. Pisces reminds us to just be our unique selves and serve in the name of love and kindness. Pisces, like fish in the deep ocean, shows we are all part of one powerful and dynamic universal life force.

At first many people may be greatly overwhelmed or intoxicated with Pisces energy and try create misplaced notions of what is the ideal society for humankind. As we work with Pisces energy and transform through it, we understand we have no duty to try control another. Yet we have our role to influence through our own state of consciousness. Through Pisces we realize we can influence the universe by feeding vibrations of love and gratitude. Pisces is highly artistic, idealistic and sensitive. Pisces reminds us of vibration and the power to influence and manifest through higher states of consciousness. Meditation supports Pisces, but drugs (including recreational) and alcohol do not support the true potential of Pisces consciousness. Addiction problems with substances may arise when first working through the consciousness of Pisces. Pisces is a mutable sign. Pisces falls within the water element. The water element is emotional, sensitive, spiritual, highly perceptive and receptive. Pisces especially, is the most evolved spiritual orientated sign. The number twelve is a higher vibration of three. In three we learn through trial and error. In twelve, we learn to swim in peaceful blissful states of consciousness. In these meditative and higher states of consciousness, the power to begin a new cycle of consciousness is possible.

The final four zodiac signs are ruled by the big planets, known as Jupiter and Saturn. Jupiter and Saturn are also renowned for their spiritual roles as profound teachers leading to vast transformation. It is profound that the last four zodiac signs are associated with these planets, revealing that as we develop through consciousness, spiritual development and awareness are heightened. This article concludes the four-piece article series introducing the zodiac signs of astrology. The zodiac signs are important to understand and have a good grasp of, because they are the ‘stage’ or ‘design’ of the houses in which the planets can express their energy.
