The Southern Tropical Zodiac: Toward a Holistic Astrology
This talk presents seven years of research on the use of the Southern Tropical Zodiac. It updates the original seasonal definitions of the tropical zodiac to reflect southern hemisphere realities. Through case studies in natal, mundane, horary, and electional astrology — along with noted exceptions — Nāthan offers a fresh interpretation of the tropical zodiac aimed at future generations and a more holistic astrological practice. Building on the strengths of Western traditional astrology, which has long used the Tropical Zodiac with practical success, Nāthan will demonstrate, through numerous chart examples, a new perspective that expands and enriches any astrologer’s approach to working with the Tropical Zodiac in a holistic manner. The content of this talk has been previously presented at international forums such as BDTB Conference, NCGR (USA), Friends of Astrology (UK), the Astrological Journal (UK), and will be presented at UAC 2026.
About the Speaker
Nāthan Theo Naicker
Nāthan is a former petroleum reservoir engineer who now works as an Implementation Manager and Senior Business Analyst, specializing in integrating AI into commercial and banking products for global businesses and regulatory institutions. He advises individual and corporate clients on financial and related matters. A professional astrologer with over a decade of experience, Nāthan is certified in both traditional Western and Vedic astrology. He combines both systems in a holistic practice, specializing in rectification checking both systems simultaneously. His credentials include a Diploma in Medieval Astrology (Zoller, 2012), a Diploma in Astrological Studies (Suskin, 2014), and the Jyotiṣa Paṇḍita title (Rath, 2023), among others. In 2023, he received the “Astrological Service of the Year: South Africa” award from MEA Markets Global. Nāthan has served with the Cape Astrology Association and OPA South Africa, volunteered as a Copy Editor for a Vedic astrology publishing house in India, and assisted in teaching Vedic astrology for several years before stepping down to focus on work and family. He teaches Western and Vedic astrology privately, has hosted classes for Kepler College and IAA (Australia), and currently teaches medical astrology for UK-based astrology schools.
