Mining for a heart of gold
Let’s face it we are miners, us South Africans. Be it deep within the earth beneath mountains of precious minerals for current and future technologies or beneath the ocean at fathomless depths for research or cabling or potential resources to power 8-billion lives, or those of us daily mining for the nutrients our ecologies require to survive; be they biological or spiritual.
No matter which astrological chart you take for South Africa – 27APRIL94 or 10MAY94 – Jupiter is retrograde in Scorpio strong in his aspect to Sun, with Moon (the people) either post-fullmoon scorpionic or balsamic and exalted in Taurus, with full-power Mars-in-Aries and strategist Pallas-Athene doing it. We’ve got all the ability to go beneath the surface and find the treasures within Scorpio’s hidden realm; the business acumen and science and soul of it AND the hands-on experience. So many scatterlings have had to travel far to earn their living, or travel far from themselves to survive. There is ‘genius’ in us as refuge-seekers, only unleashing when we are able to return home. Coming home to centre and belong is the other part of Mars’ heroic journey.
No matter how winter has been chilling us to the bone, Leo is rising full-heart. Nothing is more delicious than trapping winter sunbeams. On Sunday 4AUG24 @13h10 we have a new moon @12LEO34’ as Venus blesses us in the evening with a kiss to Alpha Leo’s Regulus (heart-of-the-lion). For the following 2 nights Leo’s Moon is included in this sacred-heart embrace with Mercury close-by at his still-point and preparing to freedive into the dark matter that makes for Leo’s shine; dark matter that pulls and fixes light into itself, its heart and hearth. (Retrograde motion for magician Mercury officially begins on Monday, the 5th.)
Keeping a pure-fire at new-moon time helps reception for all that will need releasing into the world at THE full-on FULLMOON 19AUG24 @27AQUARIUS15’, which will be a day to remember. There is a T-square with Venus-in-detriment opposite law-and-order Saturn, both square expansive Jupiter-in-detriment conjunct Mars.
Mercury will then be full-infusion with our Sunstar and with Vesta also @28LEO; ‘many little birds on a limb of a big tree’ (Dane Rudhyar’s An Astrological Mandala, 1974) versus Moon’s Sabian symbol @28AQUARIUS; ‘a tree felled and sawed to ensure a supply of wood for the winter’. Uranus squares off from 27TAU11′ liberating a moment of radical change with Sabian symbol for 28TAURUS being ‘a woman past her change of life, experiences a new love’. This makes a clear expression of the contrast between birds as nature and inspiration, the knowledge and skill it takes to satisfy vital basic needs and what is possible when unbound by the trickery of warmones 🙂 Perhaps we might ask how best to co-create with nature and technology.
Between Moon’s new and full, Mercury and Venus meet @3VIRGO43’ early on the 8th of the 8th, the famed but man-made, Lion’s Gate. This constellating is so precious; Mercury all ‘run-out-of-ideas’ in Virgo with Venus more critical than caring, but with Regulus’ benevolent heart guiding and in direct opposition to Fomalhaut @3PISCES15’; royal star, ‘Watcher of the South’ and star of eminence, poetry and perfect harmony. Maintaining the purity of this star’s dream is the inside of the inside of this story.
As heart and mind, the last time our 2 inner planets met up was in Aries in April 2024 and the next time will be in Aries in March 2025, where Venus will make her next earth-seed Venus Star Point @2ARIES39’. With so much air-n-fire there is much said and unsaid that needs to get seen and heard. Leo gives our passion courage so it’s not all hot-air and life’s cruel consequences, but more in-the-moment mammal, more ‘love, joy and happiness’ fire medicine (devils can’t laugh)
Mercury will return for a morning star kiss with Regulus on 9SEP after his retrograde fire-quest has purified body, mind and soul. Mercury likes to separate and stretch things out, getting us always to look in all directions, as well as within. Forever the trickster of both the highest and lowest however, Mercury ensures there will always be a blindspot that could never have been known before. It is this moment of mystery/chaos that helps us find the forever heart-of-it.
